Burlington, Vermont the state's largest city claims to be wholly powered by renewable energies. It states that it will save $20 million by switching to renewable sources from fossil fuels. In addition consumers are benefiting from this, as electricity prices have not increased since 2009 unlike many other places in the USA.

The direction the city is showing is highly commendable and should be copied throughout the world. We understand this particular strategy is only suitable for warmer climates and places that can manipulate hydro technology, but this way of thinking should be prevalent more commonly throughout the world.
